In March 2012 you created the first entry in your blog. What led you to create an online space dedicated to fashion?
I've always loved fashion since I was a child. My mother has managed to dress me up to the age of 5 years, I still remember the tears when she forced me to wear pants! In addition to this, my boyfriend is a web developer. He gave me the keys to start this powerful means: I like to share with my readers through my blog, my Facebook page and my account Instagram (@elepetrella) my outfits, my joys and sometimes my sorrows, they're able to comfort me!
Your blog 'It-Girl' has over 7000 followers just in Facebook. What is the secret to your success as a blogger?
Be yourself, love what you do and live everything as if it were a game. Never take yourself too seriously and always smile: in life there are already too many reasons to be sad, I want that my virtual space is a corner of peace and serenity for all my lovely followers.
What does fashion mean to you?
One of my favourite sentences is: 'When a woman smiles, her dress should smile with her'. Fashion is my way to say who I am and who I want to be. I totally believe in this form of expression and I hope that it could be lived freely from all of us.
Your blog is called 'It-Girl'. Do you feel totally identified with that term?
(Laughing) It would be nice. But I think it's too presumptuous to identify itself as an It-girl. I think it's a matter of time and confidence of followers. I never try to introduce me only as a style icon, but as a life-blogger. I like to show my essence, not only my appearance: I think that an It-girl should be all that.
Do you think that bloggers influence the decisions of designers and big brands?
Yes, bloggers with their streetstyle are one of the most influencer in the world of fashion.
What is the profile of the users who visit your blog?
Generally women, between 16 and 30 years, and sometimes guys with a particular interest in fashion.
Where do you get your inspiration?
Honestly I don't know. There are many days in which I am inspired by newspapers and fashion blogs. Others in which I open the closet and say, 'I have nothing to wear', then I start with a garment and slowly complete the outfit, like a work of art.
Could you define your style in one sentence?
Feminine, fresh and heartfelt. I could never feel at ease with a dress that doesn’t reflect my mood. If I smile, it's because I'm good inside and outside. And I want to smile every day.
What is never missing from your wardrobe?
Miniskirts, chiffon dresses and high heels.
What do you consider essential to be well dressed?
Be able to dress for themselves, for the public, for fashion and for the men we love.
The typical question, what is going to be in?
Total white, geometric prints, ethnic style and flowers over all.
Do you have any fashion advice for our users and readers?
It's important to have in the closet the basic and essential garments as a black blazer, a white shirt or a pair of cream-colored pumps. Only after that, they should play around buying what they like most and what enhances the beauty of each one. Never commit yourself to wear something exclusively because it is in fashion!
'I want that my virtual space is a corner of peace and serenity for all my lovely followers.'
